Japan develops tool to predict attrition
Japanese researchers from Tokyo City University, led by Professor Naruhiko Shiratori, have developed an AI tool aimed at predicting and preventing employee turnover in companies. This innovative tool, based on extensive data analysis including attendance records and personal information, assists in identifying employees at risk of leaving. By leveraging objective data, the AI can suggest support measures for high-risk employees, potentially mitigating turnover rates.
Shiratori and the team plan to further enhance the tool to recommend suitable job assignments for new hires based on their characteristics and personal histories. The initiative addresses the significant challenge of retaining recent graduates in Japanese businesses, where one in ten employees leaves within a year. While the AI offers valuable insights, Shiratori emphasizes the importance of human analysis in understanding the underlying causes of turnover and implementing effective solutions. This groundbreaking development highlights the increasing role of AI in addressing workforce challenges and holds potential applications beyond Japan’s borders.
