Shuttered projects to affect 700 Apple employees
Apple’s recent decision to lay off over 700 employees has left many in shock, especially considering the company’s previous track record of avoiding large-scale job cuts. The layoffs stem from the shutdown of major projects, notably the termination of the ambitious car project, Project Titan, and the cessation of efforts to develop Micro-LEDs for the Apple Smartwatch.
These layoffs hit particularly hard in California, with 58 employees from an office specializing in Micro-LED displays facing job losses. While some workers have been reassigned to different roles within the company, others are left uncertain about their future.
As mandated by the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN), employees have been given a 60-day notice period to plan their next move. This period offers a glimmer of hope for those affected, providing time to explore new opportunities and navigate the uncertain terrain of job hunting in today’s economy.
